Payoneer Blocked in India: What Next?

Shiblee January 9, 2011 5

Recently RBI( reserve bank of India) has blocked Payoneer in India and now Indian users of Payoneer can’t withdraw money using Indian ATM. Not only this, Indian users are now unable to use it for local online purchases. But Payoneer is still for Indians if they want to shop online globally.

Payoneer

Indian Freelancers will be affected

There is a big proportion of Indian freelancers and affiliates receiving their payments using Payoneer as it is the easiest way to withdraw money in local Indian currency using ATM.

PayPal is the best Alternative?

PayPal may be a tonic for Indian Payoneer users in this condition as PayPal is accepting most of Indian banks and Indians can withdraw money direct to their bank accounts using PayPal

And What About PayPal verification problems?

Now PayPal verification is not a problem and anyone can do this;

  • Using Payoneer card
  • Using Entropay ( entropay is the most effective way to verify PayPal and you can verify PayPal if you have a debit card easily)
  • Direct bank account

Besides all these we hope that Payoneer will soon fix this problem for India users.

    Hi,

It is very sad news for us as well. We just hope that situation stabilizes in the future and Payoneer will continue to provide its services to valued card holders in India.

Just for the record, due to instructions from the Indian local banking authorities, Payoneer Prepaid MasterCard cards have been blocked for local transactions made in India. Payoneer cards continues to be functional anywhere other than India (including transactions made online on global websites), and all funds are secure.

Other payment companies have experienced similar restrictions in the past, and most have been temporary and have taken a few weeks to resolve the situation. Payoneer and MasterCard are working with local banking regulators to address the situation. Payoneer is also preparing alternative ways for card holders to continue to receive payouts in the future. We apologize for the inconvenience and will keep you informed.

    Hi Dan,

It says “Payoneer cards continues to be functional anywhere other than India (including transactions made online on global websites), and all funds are secure.” But my payments have been bounced and I am also not able to buy anything online( from the US and UK, my card used to work before but now its getting declined). Have you guys completely blocked the card?

I mailed at IndiaSupport@payoneer.com regarding the Global online transaction and they replied that residents of India are currently disabled for use both in India and elsewhere.
